AI Search for Manufactured Home Dealers: GEO and AEO Explained
AI search is when a buyer asks an assistant like ChatGPT, Google AI Overviews, Perplexity or Claude a question and gets a written answer instead of a list of links. It matters for dealers because that answer quotes the sites the assistant can read and understand. If yours is one of them, your dealership can be part of the answer.
How are buyers using AI assistants to shop?
They ask questions the same way they would ask a friend. "Who sells manufactured homes near me?" "Can I finance a used RV?" "What should I look for in a single-wide?"
The assistant writes an answer and often names the businesses and pages it pulled from. Some buyers click through. Many read the answer and move on to the next question. Either way, the sites that get quoted are the ones shaping what the buyer believes.
How is AI search different from regular Google search?
Regular search ranks pages and lets the buyer pick. AI search reads pages and writes a summary. That changes what counts.
A page can rank well on Google and still be hard for an assistant to read. Many AI crawlers do not run JavaScript, so a site built as a JavaScript app can look nearly blank to them. The pictures and layout look fine to a person. The crawler sees very little text.
What are GEO and AEO?
They are two names for the same idea: making your site easy for AI assistants to read, trust and quote.
GEO stands for generative engine optimization. AEO stands for answer engine optimization. You will see both terms used. For a dealer, the work behind them is the same.
What do AI assistants look for on a dealer website?
Answer engines tend to favor three things:
- Clear questions and answers. Headings phrased the way buyers ask, with a direct answer right below.
- Consistent business details. The same name, address and phone number everywhere on your site.
- Fresh, dated content. Recent posts with a clear publish date show your business is active.
They also need to be able to reach your pages at all. That means real text in the page, not text that only appears after JavaScript runs, and a robots.txt file that lets AI crawlers in.
What does DealerTide do about it?
We build DealerTide websites so AI assistants can read them. Every page's text, including inventory, each home's own page, blog posts and FAQs, is delivered as real HTML that reads without JavaScript. Every site also ships with llms.txt, AI-crawler access, and FAQ, article and product structured data.
For fresh content, every Facebook post you create in DealerTide can also become a longer blog post on your website, written for AI answers and reviewed by you before it goes live.

Frequently asked questions
Is AI search replacing Google?
Not replacing it, but changing it. Google now shows AI Overviews at the top of many results, and more buyers are asking assistants directly. Being readable by both is the goal.
Do I need a new website to show up in AI answers?
Not always. It depends on how your current site is built. A free scan will show whether AI crawlers can read your pages and what is missing.
Can anyone guarantee my dealership appears in ChatGPT?
No. Each assistant decides what to quote. What you can control is whether your site is easy to read, accurate and up to date.
